Two years ago this week, I finally became a stay-at-home mom. It took three and a half years of wanting that and not having it, and honestly, I understand the story differently now than I did the day it happened.
So in this episode of Time Management for Christian Moms, I'm telling it properly. The daycare tours while pregnant with my first. The math that wouldn't work. The Etsy shop that didn't close the gap. The decision my husband and I handed over to the Lord, and the daycare that closed for good the very week our daughter was born. And the thing I couldn't have known: that my son would need more from me than a 9-5 ever could have allowed.
If you're in your own season of waiting — on a baby, a job, a door for your business, healing, or the chance to stay home — this one is for you. Not because I can promise you'll get the thing. I can't, and I won't pretend otherwise. But because waiting on God's timing is hard in a specific way: the hard part usually isn't that God said no. It's that He hasn't told you when.
In this episode:
Why waiting doesn't mean God stopped listening, whatever the answer turns out to be
Why none of us has enough information to judge God's timing (I was reading one tab of a spreadsheet He had thirty tabs open in)
How sometimes God's grace is hidden inside the timing itself
What I'm NOT saying: this isn't "be patient and you'll eventually get what you want"
A practical exercise for seasons of waiting: writing down the specific, personal proof of God's past faithfulness (and what the Israelites forgot right after the Red Sea)
Why faith is not the absence of wisdom, and how to make a wise plan while holding it loosely
I'm also sharing some news at the end: the podcast is moving from weekly to every other week. New homeschool season, new therapy schedules, new capacity. I tell you all the time to plan around your real capacity instead of the capacity you wish you had, so I'm taking my own advice.

Can I ask you a question that might sting a little? How much of what's exhausting you right now is actually motherhood... and how much of it is extra that you've taken on that is, quite frankly, unnecessary.
Here's what I've noticed, in my own home and in conversations with so many moms: a lot of what makes motherhood feel crushing isn't the mothering. It's the extra. The imaginary standards we've set. The commitments nobody's making us keep. The comparison nobody invited. Motherhood is genuinely hard some days. But a harder-than-necessary version of it? That part is often optional.
In this final episode of our simplifying series on Time Management for Christian Moms, we're pulling the thread that ran through the last four weeks — kids helping, simpler laundry, retired decisions, morning priorities — all the way out. Because simplifying isn't a laundry strategy. It's a posture: doing less of what doesn't matter so you have actual capacity for what does.
This one is part permission slip, part pep talk, and part practical plan.
In this episode, you'll learn:
Why so much of the unnecessary hard in motherhood comes from a race nobody entered us in, and what Jesus' words in John 21 have to do with mom comparison
The question to ask of every standard you hold: who actually set this?
The secret nobody tells you about lowering unnecessary standards
The project manager method for simplifying your home
Why fixing dinner stress often shrinks two other problems on its own
The permission slip: repeated meals, repeated outfits, fewer toys, margin in the calendar, and boring-from-the-outside routines that feel like peace from the inside
Your two-part final assignment: name your loudest friction point, and officially retire one unnecessary standard this week
Simple doesn't mean doing less with your life. It means you've stopped spending your life on things God never asked of you. That's stewardship.
And if you've listened to this whole series and still aren't sure which obstacle is YOUR thing — perfectionism, doing it all yourself, days with no rhythm — take my FREE What's Keeping You Stuck? quiz. In 2 minutes or less, you'll pinpoint the specific obstacle keeping you feeling busy and behind, plus get free resources matched to it.

Take the What's Keeping You Stuck? Quiz: http://multiplythefive.com/quiz
It's 4:45 in the afternoon. Somebody's crying...maybe it's you? The toddler is hanging off your leg like a cute little koala, the boys are arguing over a toy nobody's touched in a month, everyone is ravenous, and the meat for dinner is frozen solid in the deep freeze.
Sound familiar? Here's what I've learned, friend: 4:45 doesn't actually fall apart at 4:45. It falls apart at 9 in the morning when no one is paying attention.
In this episode of Time Management for Christian Moms, I'm sharing the three things I prioritize every single morning that keep our home running smoothly, so my afternoons can be calmer, easier, and honestly, a little lazier.
And no, this is not a 5am morning routine episode. There's no required wake-up time, no green smoothie, no greeting the sunrise. Just three tasks that take a handful of minutes, can happen with kids underfoot, and exist to protect your afternoon.
In this episode, you'll learn:
Why the hardest hours of a mom's day are late afternoon, and why the fix is treating the morning as get-ahead time instead of the afternoon as catch-up time
Morning priority #1: moving the laundry forward every day (and why doing it early gets it off your mind)
Morning priority #2: getting the dishes to their next natural step, so dinner prep doesn't start with a full sink and an unloaded dishwasher
Morning priority #3: getting ahead of dinner with a weekly plan, a $2 whiteboard, and one question — what prep can I steal from my future self right now?
The night owl flip: how to turn the whole thing into an evening reset if mornings aren't your thing
Why none of this adds a single task to your day — same work, better time slot
The real payoff: an afternoon with less waiting in it, and the guilt-free lazy afternoon you built on purpose
Your assignment this week is tiny: tomorrow, steal just one piece of dinner prep from your future self. Chop the thing, thaw the thing, slow-cooker the thing. Then pay attention to how 4:45 feels.
And if your whole day feels like 4:45, not just the afternoon, there's usually one root obstacle underneath it. If you're realizing you re-decide everything from scratch every day, take my free What's Keeping You Stuck? quiz. In 2 minutes or less, you'll pinpoint the actual obstacle keeping you feeling busy and behind, plus get resources matched to your result.

It's 7am and you've already decided what's for breakfast, whether it's a socks-required kind of day, what time to leave for the appointment, and whether that toddler's cough is a "stay-home cough" or an "it's just allergies" cough... Dinner is already nagging at you. And you haven't even had your coffee yet.
Here's the truth, friend: it's usually not the "doing" that wears a mom down. It's the deciding.
In this episode of Time Management for Christian Moms, I'm walking you through decision fatigue for moms and the seven decisions I simply stopped making every day. I made them once, and now I live off of them. That one shift has made me a noticeably calmer mom — and I'm getting really specific, right down to what my kids eat for breakfast every single morning and what day the groceries show up.
In this episode, you'll learn:
The decide-it-once principle: why re-deciding the same things daily is what's behind that foggy, frazzled, can't-think-straight feeling by 4pm
My kids' everyday breakfast (yes, every day) and why the predictability calms them too
How I've made meal planning and groceries super simple
The laundry decision that's already made (a quick nod to last week's episode)
Making errands easier
The impact "quiet time" has for our family
How Sunday work-block planning multiplies nap-time work hours (letting my project manager side show)
How I save time getting ready everyday
The best part? These aren't forever decisions. You're deciding for a season. Retiring the small decisions is exactly what frees you up to be flexible and present for what actually matters.
Your challenge this week is small: find one decision you keep re-making that turns out the same every time. Decide it once, write it down, and let it run for two weeks.

Somewhere in your house right now, there's a chair wearing a full load of clean laundry. Probably a load in the dryer you've re-fluffed twice, too. And one in the washer you're praying doesn't smell yet.
Here's the truth, mama: that's not a you problem. It's a system problem. Laundry is a chore with no finish line — the second your family gets dressed tomorrow, you're literally wearing the next load. So if your definition of success is "all the laundry is done," you've signed up for a game you cannot win.
In this episode of Time Management for Christian Moms, I'm sharing the simple laundry system I've used for six years. No color-coded schedule. No dedicated laundry day. Just two parts: fewer clothes, one load a day. It's how laundry went from a never-ending monster to a small daily rhythm, like brushing my teeth.
In this episode, you'll learn:
Why laundry never feels done (hint: it's a cycle, not a project, and treating it like a project is why you always feel behind)
Why most laundry problems are actually too-much-stuff problems, and exactly how small my kids' wardrobes are (one little dresser, shared)
The one-load rule: how moving one load forward every day, in any way, keeps you caught up without a laundry day
Why I barely sort laundry at all, and permission to stop folding play clothes like a boutique display
How to get your kids helping with laundry, even toddlers (folding washcloths, pushing the start button, the coveted lint-ball job)
The project-manager trick of writing a "definition of done" for laundry, and mine that you're welcome to steal
Why this whole system is really just calm discipline: small, faithful, repeated actions
Your homework is small: try the one-load rule for one week. One load, moved in some sort of way, every day. Pair it with something you enjoy. By this time next week, the whole house will feel lighter.
And if laundry is the thing that always feels undone at your house, sometimes laundry is just the loudest symptom of something bigger. Have you ever re-folded a towel your kid just folded...while they were still standing there? Watching you?
No? Just me? Okay...well....
Today we're talking about why you're still doing everything yourself — the laundry, the dishes, the seventeen thousand tiny toys — and how to actually get your kids helping at home. Fair warning: this is going to feel like a chores episode, BUT it's really about why you've made yourself the only capable person in your house, and what that's costing you.
Because here's the truth. You already know you should be delegating more. You've pinned the cute chore charts. And yet you're still doing it all. So before we talk about age-appropriate chores for kids, we're digging into the four sneaky reasons moms stay stuck doing everything themselves.
In this episode, you'll learn:
Why "it's just quicker if I do it" is really a hurry problem, and the slow math that changes everything
How "if you don't do it right, don't do it at all" quietly turns into perfectionism that keeps kids from helping
What Moses and Jethro in Exodus 18 teach us about delegation ("The thing that you are doing is not good")
The "keeping my cool" lie: why avoiding the training moment isn't patience, it's avoidance wearing patience as a costume
The training-vs-perfection mindset shift, plus the simple morning habit that helps me stay patient during slow training moments
Exactly what chores my kids do at ages 5, 3, and almost 2, from folding washcloths to the coveted lint-ball job
Why working in front of your kids (instead of secretly doing housework before they wake) is really stewardship and discipleship
If you're a mom battling burnout, tired of being the bottleneck in your home, and wondering how to teach kids to help with chores without losing your patience, this episode is your starting point.
Your homework is small: one task, one kid, this week.
And if you've been nodding along, "I should delegate more" is only ONE of the reasons moms stay stuck feeling busy and behind. It might not even be your main one. Have you ever noticed how easy it is to be disciplined when everything is going well? The kids are sleeping, nobody is sick, and you even remembered to thaw the chicken for dinner.
But then life happens. A child gets sick. Your plans fall apart. You get bad news. And suddenly all that calm, disciplined energy disappears, and you're left frustrated, overwhelmed, and wondering if you should just quit altogether.
That's exactly why we're ending this Nehemiah series here. Because what's most impressive about Nehemiah isn't that he rebuilt a wall in 52 days. It's how he responded when things got hard. There was opposition, fear, discouragement, and people who wanted him to fail, and yet he stayed remarkably steady. Not perfect. But steady.
That steadiness is what I call calm discipline, and it's something we desperately need as Christian moms. Not perfection. Not hustle. Not superhuman productivity. Steadiness rooted in walking with the Lord.
In this final episode of the Nehemiah series, you'll learn:
Why prayer was Nehemiah's first response, not his last resort (and why moms need both deep prayer and "Lord, help me not lose my patience in the next thirty seconds" prayer)
How pausing before reacting changes everything, especially in the hard mom moments (Nehemiah 5 + James 1)
Why prayer and action can coexist, and how trusting God and making a plan work together
How to keep going when perseverance feels impossible and you're wondering if anything you're doing even matters
Why faithfulness isn't doing something once, it's showing up again and again
What "the joy of the Lord is your strength" (Nehemiah 8:10) really means for an overwhelmed mom
If you're a Christian mom battling burnout, struggling with consistency, or feeling like your discipline disappears the moment life gets hard, this episode is biblical encouragement for staying steady in a hard season.
One practical way I personally practice calm discipline is sprint planning. My FREE Capacity-Based Sprint Planning Guide walks you through understanding your current capacity and planning your work so you can stay focused and beat burnout. Grab it at multiplythefive.com/guide.

"I'll just do it myself."
If you're a mom, you've probably thought that phrase at least three times today. Maybe thirty. And sometimes it's genuinely faster. BUT after a while, "I'll just do it myself" quietly turns into "I have to do it myself," and suddenly you're the exhausted, overwhelmed mom who's the bottleneck for everything in your home.
Here's the thing: Nehemiah never rebuilt Jerusalem alone. He was the governor, the guy everyone was looking to, and he still delegated. He organized families by section, put the right people in the right positions, and the wall went up in just 52 days. Big assignments require many hands, and motherhood is no different.
In this episode of Time Management for Christian Moms, we're walking through 5 lessons from Nehemiah for the overwhelmed mom who's tired of doing everything herself.
In this episode, you'll learn:
Why "doing it all" isn't the gold standard of Christian motherhood (and what Nehemiah modeled instead)
How to start training your kids to help at home, even at ages 5, 3, and 1.5
What Nehemiah 7 teaches about seeing the God-given gifts in your children and the people around you
The difference between being prepared and being anxious, and why it changes everything about how you approach your days
Why staying in your lane matters (Ezra and Nehemiah had different jobs, and both mattered)
How Christian community keeps us from drifting away from our purpose and priorities
If you're battling mom burnout, feeling like nobody helps, or wondering how to manage your time without running on empty, this episode is your permission slip to stop doing everything yourself. Delegation isn't weakness or laziness. It's biblical wisdom.
And if the real issue is that you're juggling too many priorities at once, grab my FREE Capacity-Based Sprint Planning Guide. A lot of overwhelmed moms don't have a time management problem. They have a capacity problem. The guide helps you identify what actually matters in this season and build a realistic plan around your actual capacity, not your imaginary one. Have you ever looked at your life and wondered if what you're doing actually matters?
Maybe you're spending your days caring for children, managing a home, homeschooling, building a business, or trying to faithfully steward the season God has placed you in. Yet sometimes it's easy to wonder if you're making progress at all.
In this episode, we're continuing our Nehemiah series by exploring what faithfulness really looks like in motherhood.
You'll learn:
Why faithfulness is about obedience, not position
How comparison steals joy and distracts us from our assignment
Why discernment matters more than simply staying busy
How to identify what deserves your attention in this season
How capacity-based planning can help you focus on what matters most
What Nehemiah teaches us about purpose, priorities, and perseverance
If you're an overwhelmed Christian mom struggling with purpose, productivity, priorities, or comparison, this episode will encourage you to stay focused on the work God has placed right in front of you.

Do planning and trusting God belong together? Do you ACTUALLY trust God if you're always making plans, setting goals, or creating strategies?
Many Christian moms feel tension between making plans and having faith. We hear phrases like "just trust God" or "let go and let Go" and sometimes assume that goals, schedules, and planning systems somehow compete with dependence on Him.
But that's not what we see in the book of Nehemiah.
In this episode, we're continuing our Nehemiah series by exploring why biblical planning is NOT the opposite of trusting God. Nehemiah prayed deeply, sought wisdom, assessed reality, created a plan, adapted when circumstances changed, and trusted God through the entire process.
In this episode, you'll learn:
How Nehemiah didn't rush ahead of God
How wisdom and planning work together
The difference between preparation and control
Why capacity-based planning creates more sustainable productivity
How to pause and respond wisely instead of reacting emotionally
Why faithful stewardship matters more than perfect plans
If you're an overwhelmed Christian mom looking for practical time management, biblical productivity, sustainable planning systems, and a healthier way to pursue your goals, this episode is for you.
